Begin with an honest assessment, not a sales pitch.
A fixed-price diagnostic of how you operate, what your systems do, and where the friction is. You keep the output whether or not you work with us.
What the diagnostic covers
The same five questions get answered whatever we end up recommending, so the document is worth having even if the answer is that you do not need us.
The five outputs
- How your organisation actually operates today
- Your current systems, and where they cost you time
- Where Backbone would fit, and where it would not
- What is realistically achievable with AI, and what is not
- A costed recommendation with a clear route forward
The fee is credited
If you proceed to implementation, the diagnostic fee is credited against it. That way the assessment stands on its own terms, and you are not paying twice for the same thinking.
Routing: platform or bespoke
We will tell you which one you need before you commit to either. The table below is the honest version of how that decision actually gets made.
| Route to Backbone when | Route to a bespoke build when |
|---|---|
| Your process is close to how the rest of your industry already operates | Your process is what sets you apart from competitors |
| A platform already exists and covers the core of what you need | No platform exists that fits your sector |
| Getting value quickly matters more than a perfect fit | You need to own the resulting intellectual property outright |
| You want the system to keep improving without another project starting | Your constraints are specific enough to your organisation that a shared platform cannot flex to meet them |
If Backbone covers you, paying for a bespoke build wastes your money. If your process is what makes you competitive, a product will blunt it.
We will tell you when it is not us
We are the people assessing you, and we are also the people who sell Backbone. That is a genuine conflict of interest, and we would rather name it than have you discover it later. An assessment that always recommends our own platform would not be worth having, so we say so plainly: the diagnostic is priced and delivered as a standalone piece of work, and the recommendation coming out of it may be that you need neither track, neither Backbone nor a bespoke build from us. We hold that position openly because a diagnostic that can only ever conclude "buy Backbone" is not really a diagnostic.
What else the diagnostic produces
AI readiness
What is achievable on your data as it stands, and what would have to change before any of it becomes realistic.
Modern workplace and Copilot
Addressed as an outcome of the assessment, on the basis of what would actually help, rather than a product pushed at you regardless.
Change roadmap
A sequenced route through the changes that matter, rather than a single programme that tries to do everything at once.
Questions worth answering up front
What do we get if we do not proceed?
A written picture of how your organisation operates, where your current systems cost you time, and a costed recommendation. If the honest answer is that you should not take this further with us, that is what the recommendation will say. It is yours to keep and act on however you choose.
How long does it take?
Long enough to actually understand how you operate rather than guess at it, and short enough that it does not become a project in its own right. The exact duration depends on the size and complexity of your organisation and is agreed before we start.
